Chamber Choir of the Collegium Musicum Berlin

The Collegium Musicum Berlin is the musical home for over 400 members of the Free University and the Technical University of Berlin who, in addition to their studies or other employment, sing in the choir or play in one of the orchestras or the big band. The approximately 40-member chamber choir presents a diverse repertoire and is dedicated to a variety of classical a cappella literature.

Since 2011, the direction of the chamber choir has been in the hands of Donka Miteva.

Donka Miteva studied choral conducting at the State Academy of Music in Sofia and orchestra conducting at the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf. After graduating in 2007, she was appointed at the State Opera in Münster, Germany as a conductor and choir director. In 2011 Donka Miteva was appointed Artistic Director and Conductor of Collegium Musicum Berlin. She is the winner for numerous awards with her Collegium Musicum Berlin Chamber Choir and Symphony Orchestra at prestigious competitions in Germany and around the world. Since 2019, she also teaches Conducting at the University of Arts in Berlin.

Donka is a sought-after clinician, adjudicator and workshop leader at many prestigious international events such as the World Choir Games, European Choir Games, Grand Prix of Nations and is also a member of the World Choir Council.

She has led the chamber choir to numerous concerts in Berlin and the surrounding area, on concert tours and to various competitions with great success. The choir received prizes in Olomouc (CZ) in 2016, at the Grand Prix in Berlin in 2017 and at the Berliner Chortreff. The choir represented the state of Berlin at the German Choir Competition 2018 and was named German Choir Master in Koblenz in 2022. In spring 2023, the ensemble was invited to the International Chamber Choir Competition in Marktoberdorf. One year later, in May 2024, the choir competed in two categories at the International Choral Competition of the Harmonie Festival in Limburg-Lindenholzhausen and was awarded first and second place, as well as gold certificates and a special prize.
