Mount Royal Kantorei is an auditioned 90-member mixed chorus based in Calgary Alberta in Canada and part of Mount Royal University's family of choirs. Embracing innovative projects and significant collaborations, the choir is committed to musical excellence and community engagement.

Recent highlights include commissioning works from prominent composers like Jake Runestad and collaborating with esteemed ensembles such as The Kenyan Boys Choir, Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, and Calgary Youth Orchestra. The choir's recent repertoire Elaine Hagenberg’s "Illuminare," and Eric Whitacre’s "The Sacred Veil" released in 2023 to support Ovarian Cancer Canada.

During the pandemic, Mount Royal Kantorei produced over 12 innovative videos that garnered national attention, showcasing the choir's resilience and creativity.

Kantorei launched the Kantorei Choral Festival in April 2023, which has attracted over 800 choristers from across Canada for workshops, masterclasses, and performances at the Bella Concert Hall. This event commissioned new works from Jake Runestad and attracts esteemed clinicians and composers such as their upcoming event with Ola Gjeilo in October of 2025.

Mount Royal Kantorei also raises funds for causes like The Calgary Food Bank and the Aboriginal Friendship Centre.

Under the inspired leadership of Artistic Director John Morgan, the choir has embraced innovative projects and significant collaborations that continue to elevate its artistic vision.
