Sunday 4th May, 3.30pm
There has been a choir at Saint Fin Barre’s Cathedral since the medieval period, being first mentioned in a manuscript of 1328.
Throughout the years music has played an important part in the liturgy of the Cathedral. The present choir consists of boy choristers, girl choristers, choral scholars and lay vicars choral (adult male singers). The boy choristers and girl choristers sing separately with the adults. As well as providing music for the regular Sunday services and high profile events such as the Christmas Carol services and civic occasions, the choir sings concerts and travels within Ireland and abroad each year.
