Sligo

Established in 1975, the Sligo Orpheus Choir is an amateur mixed-voice choir of over 30 singers that aims to promote an appreciation and enjoyment of choral music within the community of County Sligo and beyond.
The Sligo Orpheus Choir performs a wide variety of repertoire, from classical works and folk songs to eclectic, contemporary choral pieces. The choir has performed throughout Ireland, notably with the RTE Concert Orchestra, Band of an Garda Siochána, Defence Forces Band and in venues such as the National Concert Hall, Dublin, and The Royal Albert Hall, London.
The Sligo Orpheus Choirs conductor, Ciara Murphy, is a graduate of the Bachelor and Masters in Music Education from Trinity College Dublin and TU Dublin Conservatory. She conducted the award-winning Trinity Singers achieving their highest mark to date at the Derry International Choral Festival where she was awarded the 'Most Promising Conductor' award of the festival and Sing Ireland's conducting scholarship. Studying conducting with Robert Houlihan and Bernie Sherlock, Ciara has conducted Trinity Orchestra and Belgrove Girls School Choir, achieving 1st place in the Feis Ceoil in 2024. Ciara is a past Choral Scholar with Trinity College Chapel Choir and has recently been selected to join the Youth Committee and represent Ireland with the European Choral Association.
