Saturday 3rd May, Cork City Hall
Cór Lae Nua is a female voice chamber choir based in Cork City. It was founded in 2016 when a group of friends came together to experience the challenges and pleasures of singing in a small choir. The choir enjoys performing in a wide variety of events, including concerts and competitions, and has achieved success in Feis Maitiú, Limerick Choral Festival, Sligo Choral Festival, AIMS Choral Festival and Cork International Choral Festival. A regular and very special event for the choir has been singing at the annual Memorial Service for Infant and Pregnancy Loss in Cork. They were particularly honoured to participate in the 2020 service which was broadcast on RTÉ television. Cór Lae Nua is under the direction of Gemma Magner. Gemma is Head of Music and Musical Director at Coláiste na Toirbhirte, Bandon. She holds a Masters in Performance and has performed as a soloist and chorister with a variety of vocal ensembles and has given many of her own recitals. Alongside a love of early music, she also has a passion for Irish traditional music.
