Cór Mhagh Ealla (CORE VAW ALLA) is a community choir based in Mallow in North Cork on the banks of the River Blackwater. The choir was established in 2001 and comprises approximately 56 members with many new voices added this year. Since its formation the choir has been building its repertoire and participating in choral festivals at home and abroad and has met with numerous successes along the way. It had its most recent success at the Limerick Choral Festival in March where it won the Community Choir competition. The choir sings a mixture of music to suit all tastes.
Cór Mhagh Ealla (CORE VAW ALLA) welcomed its conductor Susan O’Keeffe in 2021 and has been accompanied by Maura McAuliffe on keyboard since 2019. The choir is delighted to have Susan and Maura at its helm. Susan has contributed hugely to music in North Cork through her teaching of piano and violin where she has passed on the gift of music to countless musicians. Maura spent most of her working life teaching music in Mallow where she also taught piano and violin.
The members of Cór Mhagh Ealla (CORE VAW ALLA) love to give enjoyment to others through their performances and in May last year put on a concert for their local town titled ‘May Melodies’ which was a great success.
