Viva Voce was established in September 2003 under its Musical Director, Bernadette Kiely. The choir has won awards at Festivals including Limerick Choir Festival; the Feis Maitiu, Cork; twice winners of the trophy for Irish Contemporary Music at the Cork International Choral Festival and winners of the National Mixed Voice Competition at the Cork International Choral Festival in 2014, 2016 and 2022. Viva Voce have attended Festivals in Vienna, Nice, Riva del Garda in Italy, Amsterdam, the Royal Albert Hall in London, Rome, and the Derry International Choir Festival. In 2019 they performed in the National Concert Hall Dublin. In 2017 they performed the Faure Requiem in Galway and Cork, sharing the platform with choirs from Galway and Rome. In December 2024 the choir made a return visit to the Advent Festival in Vienna and performed in Cork City Hall with the Cork Symphony Orchestra and soprano Claudia Boyle.
