Roddy O’Keeffe is a Lecturer at Munster Technological University Cork School of Music, and is based in the Musicianship and Academic Studies Department. As a professional trombonist, Roddy has played with numerous ensembles throughout Ireland and abroad, most notably with Crash Ensemble, Ireland’s leading contemporary music group. He is currently engaged on a part-time PhD at Technological University Dublin under the supervision of Dr Maria McHale and Dr Kerry Houston. The PhD is partly funded by The Guinness Choir and was initiated following the acquisition of the Choir archives by TU Dublin. The research focus is on the history of the Choir, and how the Choir fits into the broader musical landscape of Dublin and Ireland. There is a particular focus on the founding conductor of the choir, Victor Leeson.
